Brand Strategy & Positioning

branding

For when the problem is that nobody's sure what you actually stand for

Brand positioning answers a simpler question than people expect: if a customer had five seconds to describe why they’d choose you over the obvious alternative, what would they say? Getting that answer clear and consistent everywhere your business shows up is what this service does.

The problem it solves

Marketing built on unclear positioning tends to sound like everyone else’s marketing. This service isn’t always necessary; it’s the right starting point specifically when a business doesn’t yet have a clear, distinct answer to “why us.”

Who needs it

Businesses that already have a product or service but haven’t nailed down what makes them different, or businesses whose messaging feels generic even to them.

What I actually do

Research your competitors and your actual audience, identify the gap between what your competitors are saying and what your audience actually responds to, and define a positioning that’s specific enough to act on, not a vague mission statement.

What you receive is a positioning statement and messaging direction you can use across your website, ads, and social. A foundation, not a slogan. In my Blue Light Defenders project, this looked like identifying that a gaming eyewear brand’s audience responded to performance-focused language, not the wellness-framed messaging every competitor was using, a specific insight that then shaped every other decision in the project. That’s the kind of finding I’m looking for with real businesses too: not “your brand needs more personality,” but a specific, evidence-based angle. This work feeds directly into Digital Marketing Strategy and shapes the tone of everything in Email Marketing, Social Media, and ad copy.
